So, this is getting ridiculous. It looks as though I’ve moved to California to spend countless hours on the bus and the train and in PowerPoint and not really embarrassing myself or finding my way into interesting stories. Bummer.

But there have been things… small things. Things I’d like to tell you about but just haven’t had the time to. So I’d like to give a quick summary in hopes you’ll be all like, “whoa, I want to hear more about THAT” and then you’d bug me to write more until I literally have no choice but to just take a week off of work and write the hell out of this blog and we all feel better about the whole thing. I bought a Flip Ultra camera this weekend. As it turns out, I don’t have much use for such a thing short of handing it to a coworker and letting her work her magic. The result? My first video:

Something of note: nude color bras are actually not my favorite. Otherwise, the video is pretty accurate. Clearly money well spent. And of course I have a trampoline behind my desk.

A good friend at my job organizes a company-wide “mix swap.” Participants sign up and are placed in a group of several other colleagues. We all make mix CDs. And, on the due date, we swap our mixes with those in our group. It’s a beautiful idea, in theory. You get to discover new music, you share your tastes with coworkers whom you may not have met in your daily wanderings about, you receive items in your mailbox that aren’t spreadsheets, etc.

Of course, in practice, the ordeal is far more stressful and soul-wrenching than I had ever expected. Read more
